Unfold the Wall

"Imagine a transformed landscape, where symbols of division become spaces of connection. In our design proposal, we draw inspiration from the deconstruction of the border wall to transform what was once a divisive barrier into a symbol of protection and community. This wall, which once separated and divided, now becomes a multifunctional structure that provides shelter from the sun and refuge for those in need. Picture a public space where this structure not only offers shade and protection but also serves as a bus stop, a gathering point for the community.

This architectural intervention not only offers shelter and comfort to travelers but also serves as a powerful metaphor for breaking down the physical and mental barriers that divide people. By turning what was once a symbol of division into a meeting point and convergence, our design seeks to inspire unity and inclusion in our communities. Each structure in our design is a step forward in building a more open and connected world."

The main concept is to deconstruct the symbolic and physical cross-border wall, transforming it into interconnected installations that serve as refuges and meeting places on both sides of the border. Breaking Down Barriers

The cross-border wall between Tijuana and San Diego has long been a symbol of separation. Our project seeks to turn this symbol on its head, breaking down the wall's rigid physicality and reimagining it as a series of open, inviting spaces. By unfolding the wall, we aim to create a continuum of interconnected installations that blur the lines between the two cities, encouraging interaction and collaboration.

•Interconnected Circuits: The installations in Tijuana and San Diego will be linked by a network of circuits, symbolizing the continuous flow of people, ideas, and cultures. These circuits will facilitate various activities and events, making the spaces dynamic and ever-changing.

•Refuges and Meeting Places: Each installation will serve as a refuge—a safe and welcoming space where individuals from both sides of the border can gather, relax, and connect. These areas will be equipped with seating, greenery, and amenities to promote comfort and interaction.
